Board of Directors

The Board, comprising seven members, provides strategic guidance and direction. It directs its activities toward achieving organizational objectives set out in the articles and memorandum of association.

PhD (Social Sciences), a Master’s degree in Development Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration. Currently working as a lecturer at Makerere University, visiting lecturer at Ankole Western University, and a Consulting Partner with Socio-Economic Data Centre Ltd. Member of several Technical and Social committees.

Retired Deputy Secretary General at the National Association of Women Organizations in Uganda (NAWOU). Executive Director RUTH Fund Uganda.

Formerly: various senior positions in the Government of Uganda, including Commissioner for Agriculture Planning and Commissioner for Women and Dev. Currently, Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture, African Union. Has championed causes such as women empowerment, poverty eradication, agricultural development, strategic planning, and partnership building, among others.

Ms. Bajenja Ellen Kajura, Country Director

Masters in Public Health, PGD in Project Planning and Management, Cert in Global Health in Gender & SRH, and Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences.

Ellen Bajenja is a development and health promotion specialist with 25 years’ experience in pioneering grassroots development work, engagement in research and policy advocacy as well as management of Pan African and National programs. She holds a Master’s in Public Health (Safe Motherhood), a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management, a Certificate in Global Health in Gender and SRH, and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. Her programming focus is on gender and women’s rights, Right to health and livelihoods, implemented within conflict, transition, and stable contexts. She has a passion for empowering marginalized adolescents and young people to identify the factors that hamper their health and wellbeing and act from their inherent abilities to change their situation. As a Country Director for ACORD Uganda, Ellen provides leadership in the management of multi-sectoral country level programmes; provides Strategic leadership, and maintains partner relations and networking foresight.

Msc. Institutional Management & Leadership, Msc. Civil Eng/Water Resources Eng (Awaiting Grad.), Bsc. Civil & Building Eng, Dip in Water Eng, Water & Envtl Mgt.

With over 20 years of Development and Humanitarian Work Experience, Dunstan’s skill set is a mixture of Institutional Management and WASH/Civil Engineering. He has rich experience in managing Field Operations and grassroots Programming for a wide range of Development areas such as; WASH, Children’s rights, OVC, Women empowerment and protection (GBV, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights etc..), Livelihoods, Conflict Sensitivity, and Environment/Climate change. He holds a Master’s Degree in Institutional Management and leadership, a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, a Diploma in Water Engineering and currently awaiting graduation for a second Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering of Makerere University. Dunstan is the vice chairperson of the Uganda Water Partnership, a Steering Committee Member of the Global Water Partnership East Africa, a Registered Professional Engineer and a member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers.

Robert has more than 10 years of working experience in the fields of Finance, Accounting, and Commerce. He has gained experience in the areas of Audit, Financial Reporting and Accountability, Assets management, and procurement among others. He holds a bachelors degree in Commerce (Accounting) and has obtained all stages of an ACCA.

He holds a Masters Degree in Management Studies (M&E), a Bachelor's Degree in Business computing, and a Diploma in Business computing.

Ms. Pheonah Ampuriire Ochieng holds a post graduate Diploma in Human Resources and bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.

Ms. Pheonah Ampuriire Ochieng is the Human Resource Officer for ACORD-U. In this position she plans, leads, directs and coordinates the routine functions of the Human Resource and Administrative functions of the organization, by overseeing the Recruitment, Managing staff stay and exit. She is a consult with top management on strategic planning and serves as a link between organization’s management and staff.

I am Najuna John B currently the Program Manager for ACORD Uganda South Western program, I joined ACORD in the early years of 1993 as a rural Development worker and have been able to climb the ladders up to this managerial level. Personally, I am a dynamic and a multitask skilled result –oriented development and educationist practitioner, with a verifiable record of achievements emanating from over 26 years’ experience implementing development projects I am recognized for ability to lead a professional development of diverse individuals and support a team oriented approach in project management. I am flexible, easily adaptable to people and places, with good communication and facilitation skills, obedient and keen to follow policies and procedures.

My name is Elly Turuho, the Program Manager for ACORD Uganda, East and Karamoja programme, a position I have held since 2019 to date. I hold a degree in environmental management and a masters degree in Public administration and management. I have 14 years of experience both in project implementation and extended management that have included; Good governance and social accountability, transitional justice and conflict management, livelihood empowerment of the formal IDPs in the Acholi sub region, SRH interventions, and Women Protection and Empowerment and Gender integration/Mainstreaming of programs while engaging government departments and key stakeholders. I am experienced in Program Management, Grants management, and networking with like-minded organizations. I have unique advanced expertise in Women Empowerment and Protection through the use of tested methodologies like Male involvement strategy and SASA! and implementing initiatives that mitigate violence against women and girls (VAWG).

Musiitwa Rogers is an Environmental Health Officer and Field Epidemiologist with sound knowledge and experience in programme design, implementation, management, Monitoring, Evaluation, and knowledge management. Rogers possesses skills and knowledge in conducting research (Qualitative and quantitative), proposal and grants development; climate, environment, stakeholder engagement, community engagement approaches; Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), Participatory Epidemiology; Gender; Partnerships, and Network building. He also possesses Certificates in Civic Leadership, Research, and Farmers’ Field and Business School Training Course as a Trainer of Trainers.
